  • TOTALITY is a feature-length documentary portrait of the human experience in the moon’s shadow, leading up to and during the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse. The film weaves together portraits of communities along the path of totality as they prepare for approximately four minutes when darkness descends and the stars come out in the middle of the day.

  • You’re in the right place! Sign up here to receive our handy filmmaker guide, which details the kind of clips we are looking for and instructs how to best capture your experience to be considered for the film!

  • Participation does not guarentee payment. All clips will be reviewed upon submission and for those selected, we will offer a fee to license the footage, as well as a credit in the film.

  • A budget of approximately $10,000 USD has been allocated for community-sourced footage. Participating filmmakers will be paid a fee in proportion to the total length of clips used.

  • This is just a license. You will own your clip, but with certain limitations while the film is being released, as outlined in our submission terms and conditions.

  • No. We’ve surrender to the fact that we wont be able to capture an image of the actual eclipse as well as NASA and professional astrophotographers will. Instead, we’re interested in the human experience of awe and other moments of everyday magic surrounding the event.
